Idox expands social care portfolio with strategic software acquisition

In an exciting move to further enhance their Community Solutions division, Idox has acquired  Plianz who provide software solutions to local authorities and private legal firms across the UK.

This acquisition is aligned with Idox’s strategy to invest in technology that helps organisations operate more efficiently and deliver better outcomes for people and communities. By integrating Plianz capabilities, Idox will further expand its offer in the health and care sector, supporting local authorities and care providers with tools that improve care pathways, streamline case management, and enhance service delivery.

Plianz’s solutions include Caspar, which is a financial management platform used by over 60 local authorities and several legal firms who act as deputies and appointees, managing the assets of vulnerable adults.

Engage is an omni-channel virtual assistant platform, used for automating engagement between citizens and organisations across the UK, including several local authorities. Engage has an existing roadmap of AI powered interaction modules that has the potential to enhance our offering across our product portfolio.

Geri Burton, CEO, Plianz said: “Joining the Community Solutions division at Idox marks an exciting new chapter for Plianz, and I believe it’s a move that will bring real value to our customers. I’m proud to lead a team committed to delivering meaningful outcomes for our stakeholders through innovative technology. From the earliest conversations with Chris and the Idox team, it was clear that we share the same values.

Plianz’s product set has a simple mission: to improve outcomes in socially valuable sectors. We strive to deliver forward-thinking solutions that enable organisations to provide better, more efficient services to their citizens and clients. We’re looking forward to continuing that mission within the Idox ecosystem—and to the opportunities ahead as we collaborate, grow, and innovate together.”

This strategic move strengthens Idox’s presence in key public sector markets and enhances its ability to deliver integrated solutions that support better outcomes for communities and citizens.

Chris Evans, Divisional Director, Community Solutions said: “The acquisition of Plianz reflects our continued focus on building a stronger, broader portfolio of products.

I’m excited to welcome Geri Burton and the Plianz team to Community Solutions!

Over the course of recent weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Geri to better understand their innovative solutions and how we can best integrate them into our future plans. Their modern digital cloud platform, Caspar—built on AWS—will help strengthen our capabilities and accelerate our ambitions in the Social Care space.

For over 10 years, the Engage team have been working with organisations, such as Edinburgh City Council and the National Careers Service to provide interaction tools including IVR and chatbots for their citizen engagements. They have an existing roadmap of AI capabilities for the Engage platform, that has the potential to benefit products across all 4 divisions at Idox”.

Customers of Plianz will experience no immediate changes to their services or support, and both organisations are committed to ensuring a smooth and positive transition.
