Idox’s Bluelight GMS now delivers Ordnance Survey’s Emergency Services Gazetteer
We’re excited to unveil a game-changing upgrade to our Bluelight Gazetteer Management System (GMS): it now delivers the Ordnance Survey’s Emergency Services Gazetteer (ESG) alongside AddressBase Premium (ABP) — empowering emergency services in GB with the most comprehensive, pinpoint-accurate location data from a single, unified source.
Developed in collaboration with frontline responders, the ESG is purpose-built for emergency services, delivering official British Standard addresses — complete with Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRN) — for thousands of critical locations not found in ABP, including motorway junctions, bridge intersections, and even nicknamed natural landmarks like cliffs, waterfalls, and hills.
With over 1.3 million geographically significant features, ESG offers an unprecedented level of granularity. This enhanced precision ensures that every incident response is faster, more informed, and more effective — saving lives, reducing risk, and boosting operational efficiency both in the control room and on the ground.
Idox already supports half of Britain’s emergency services with our Bluelight GMS, streamlining the management of ABP and locally added addresses, along with vital risk information. Now, with ESG integration, we’re taking that support to a whole new level.
