Gloucestershire County Council Launches Revamped Glosfamilies Directory and Local Offer

Gloucestershire County Council has launched a new version of its Glosfamilies Directory and Local Offer, an online resource that provides information and support to children, young people (aged 0-25) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families.

Developed through a collaborative effort involving parents, young people, Gloucestershire County Council, the NHS, and the Gloucestershire Parent Carer Forum, the website has been updated to ensure that information and resources are readily accessible to young people and families with SEND.

Key enhancements include:

  • Activity checker: Families can easily find activities available today, in the coming days, or throughout the week. They can filter results based on time of day, day of the week, and location to discover groups, clubs, and outings suitable for their child. Inclusive activities are prominently marked with a “Local Offer” flag for easy identification.
  • ‘Parent Carer Approved’ logo: This logo is now displayed throughout the site, so families can have confidence the information is supported by parent carers who have experience with SEND in Gloucestershire.
  • Search tools: Families can use of search functionality to locate registered childcare providers in their area, access details on support services like post-natal groups, discover free resources such as relationship support and parenting workshops, and explore family-friendly activities across the county.
  • ‘Future Me’: A dedicated ‘Future Me’ section has been developed within the directory, designed and curated by young individuals with SEND. This resource covers topics ranging from education and training to managing money and the transition to adulthood.
  • Multimedia Content: The website now incorporates engaging videos and podcasts.
