Digitisation of EHCP’s. Are you ready?

Amidst the government’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) review, local authorities in the UK are actively pursuing the digitisation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). This strategic move aligns with the overarching vision of providing the “right support, right place, right time” for children with SEND, as emphasised by the government.

Recognising the challenges faced by stakeholders involved in supporting children with SEND, local authorities are turning to digital solutions to enhance accessibility, communication, and coordination. The digitisation of EHCPs serves as a cornerstone to deliver efficient and effective support, reflecting the commitment to the principles outlined in the SEND review.

The ongoing government review acts as a catalyst for change, prompting local authorities to reassess and fortify their support mechanisms for children with SEND by 2025. The imperative to provide the “right support, right place, right time” resonates through these initiatives, underlining the need for a comprehensive and accessible digitised EHCP system.

Chris Evans, Divisional Director, Community Solutions, Idox, underscores the pivotal role of technology in achieving the government’s objectives. “With Idox’s EHC Hub, local authorities can seamlessly integrate a digital solution into their statutory workflows. This empowers all stakeholders with a user-friendly platform that improves communication, provides efficiencies for local authorities and facilitates a level of transparency that has the power to transform the local authority’s relationship with parents, carers and young people. What’s more, it’s proven and is ready to implement now”.

Idox’s EHC Hub stands out as a compelling ready-to-implement solution that directly addresses the challenge. Already embraced by over 20 trailblazing local authorities for over 4 years, including Southend on Sea Borough Council and Salford City Council, it proves that the technology is available now.

Having worked with many customers in their EHCP digitisation journeys, in September 2023, Idox produced a paper detailing some of the key things to consider as part of the process. You can download ‘SEND Reforms: the power of digitisation’ and read our thoughts and advice here.
