The IoL National Training Conference provides UK local authority licensing professionals with a unique platform to learn, connect and collaborate. As long-term supporters of the Institute of Licensing, Idox were delighted to continue to sponsor the National Training Conference in 2020.

Given the challenges of COVID-19, this year’s National Training Conference was run as a virtual event across 5 days. Using virtual techniques, the IoL was still able to deliver a comprehensive agenda that included a wide variety of presentations from the industry’s leading experts.

In attendance from Idox were licensing product specialists Matt Potts and Andy Clothier who gained a deeper insight into challenges currently faced by local authorities as they continue to navigate the changing pandemic landscape. Common themes observed included the mounting financial pressures faced by local authorities and the benefits of greater council collaboration. Despite the challenges faced, local government licensing departments have illustrated fierce resilience during the course of the pandemic.
