Government SEND review Green Paper puts digitisation firmly on the agenda

Following the release of the Government’s SEND Green Paper on 29 March, 2022, it’s encouraging to hear that the Government is putting digitisation firmly on the agenda of its special educational needs and disability (SEND) reforms. The introduction of a standardised and digitised EHCP (Education and Health Care Plan) process and template to minimise bureaucracy and deliver consistency is just one of the proposals to provide new standards in the quality of support for children across education, health and care.

We’ve already seen the benefits of digitisation for our local authority customers, who are managing an ever-increasing number of EHCPs for children and young people with SEND. It sits at the heart of what we do. Our EHC Hub solution has helped transform how they manage statutory timelines and processes, not to mention how it helps them to collaborate with families and professionals at the same time.

It’s positive to hear that the Government recognises that digitisation is the way forward. The children and families that this reform is designed to support will benefit from simpler, more transparent processes and get the educational support they need more quickly.

We will be responding to the Consultation in due course, drawing on our experience of developing, implementing and supporting a digital platform specifically to support local authorities and their stakeholders with the delivery and review of EHCPs.
