Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Idox shortlisted for innovation award

Partnership recognised in 2026 Staff Awards for improving palliative care medicine management.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Idox have been shortlisted in the Exceptional Contribution to Research, Teaching, Innovation or Quality Improvement category at the Trust’s 2026 Staff Awards.

The nomination recognises the collaborative work of Samantha White, Clinical Lead Specialist Palliative Care and Lead Nurse Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care, alongside the Trust’s Medical Engineering team and Idox, in developing and implementing an innovative solution to improve the management and tracking of palliative care lockboxes.

The shortlisted GMS Medical Engineering, Idox and Palliative Care team will attend the Staff Awards ceremony at Cheltenham Racecourse on 6 November, where the winners will be announced.

The annual awards celebrate exceptional contributions made by individuals and teams across Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This year, the Trust received 765 nominations, reflecting the compassion, dedication, teamwork and innovation demonstrated by staff every day. The high number and quality of nominations highlight the significant difference employees make to patients, colleagues and communities across the organisation.

The shortlisted innovation centres on the Idox Lockbox Tracking Solution, a dedicated system designed to help NHS organisations monitor, manage and track lockboxes used to secure ambulatory syringe pumps in community and palliative care settings.

It is particularly rewarding to see technology making a tangible difference in palliative and end of life care.
