Idox launches Eros Polling
Idox Electoral Services has announced the launch of Eros Polling, a new polling station application that will give Returning Officers and Electoral Registration Officers real-time visibility of polling station activity, helping local authorities deliver smoother, more informed and more efficient elections.
Fully integrated with our Idox Eros Electoral Management System (EMS), Eros Polling will replace paper-based processes with an easy-to-use interface while providing live operational data that enables election teams to monitor activity across polling stations as it happens and respond quickly to emerging issues.
Designed specifically for the realities of election day, the application will help local authorities support large numbers of temporary polling station staff, many of whom may only work during election periods. With an intuitive, guided interface and minimal training requirements, staff can process voters quickly and accurately while maintaining compliance with electoral regulations.
Eros Polling will combine operational efficiency with powerful data insights, helping election teams not only manage polling day more effectively, but also use election-day data to improve planning, staffing and resource allocation for future elections.
Key benefits are set to help deliver:
- An intuitive and easy-to-use app for polling station teams.
- Faster voter processing and streamlined voter ID verification.
- Reduced queues and an improved voter experience.
- Real-time monitoring of voter check-ins, turnout and throughput.
- Live visibility of polling station status and emerging pressure points.
- Reduced administration and greater consistency through digital processes.
- Accurate digital capture of voter ID and statutory data.
- Better-informed election day decision-making through live reporting.
- Post-election analysis of turnout patterns and polling station demand.
- More effective staffing, resource planning and budget allocation for future elections.
- Fully integrated with the market-leading Eros Electoral Management System.
- Built on a secure, resilient and scalable Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform.
Unlike standalone polling station applications, Eros Polling is part of the wider Idox Electoral Services suite, allowing electoral teams to work within a single trusted electoral technology ecosystem. By connecting polling station activity directly to Eros EMS, authorities can access up-to-date electoral data without the need for duplicate systems or manual reconciliation.
Built on decades of electoral expertise
For more than 45 years, Idox has supported local authorities in delivering secure, reliable and transparent democratic services. Eros Polling builds on that heritage by extending digital capabilities directly into the polling station environment and providing electoral teams with greater operational oversight than ever before.
“Polling day is one of the most important and highly scrutinised operational events that local authorities deliver each year,” said Vinay Neogi, Head of Product Development at Idox.
“Electoral teams need technology that is simple for polling station staff to use while giving Returning Officers a clear view of what’s happening across their entire operation. Eros Polling will deliver both. It will provide real-time visibility of voter throughput, queue pressures and polling station activity, whilst generating valuable operational data that can help authorities improve planning, staffing and resource allocation for future elections.
“By helping teams understand where demand is highest and where resources are needed most, Eros Polling will support better decision-making, improved efficiency and ultimately a better experience for voters.”

Supporting the future of elections
This new addition to our Idox Eros suite comes at a time of continued change across the electoral landscape, including the implementation of voter identification requirements and wider electoral modernisation initiatives.
Beyond supporting polling day operations, Eros Polling will enable local authorities to build a richer understanding of voter behaviour and polling station demand over time. By capturing operational and turnout data digitally, election teams can identify their busiest polling stations, analyse voter flow patterns and make evidence-based decisions around staffing levels, venue management and election budgets.
These insights can help authorities deploy resources more effectively, reduce unnecessary costs and ensure voters receive a consistent experience across all polling stations.
As governments continue to explore digital innovation in election administration, Eros Polling provides local authorities with a practical, future-ready solution that supports both today’s electoral requirements and tomorrow’s opportunities.
