New look, same vital support: South Glos Life

South Gloucestershire Council has successfully relaunched its refreshed Directory, co-produced with the South Glos community and created in partnership with Idox. The newly updated site plays a critical role in helping families, carers and professionals easily access vital support, services and guidance available in their area.

The Directory helps families navigate local services by providing easy access to information about various support categories. These include universal services like schools and libraries, targeted support for families with specific needs, and statutory services for children with complex or severe requirements.

The Directory is central to the councilโ€™s mission of delivering early help and preventative support to families, ensuring they can make informed decisions and access the services they need.

The council praised the collaborative effort with Idox, highlighting the professionalism and dedication of the development team.

โ€œWeโ€™re extremely satisfied with the result and early feedback has been very positive!โ€ said Abigail Johnson, IAG Manager. โ€œThe Idox Web Development Team were extremely professional and accommodating and really spent lots of time working with us to refine the design, which we are very happy with.โ€

The redesigned site offers improved accessibility, intuitive navigation and a modern, responsive interfaceโ€”ensuring users can find trusted, up-to-date information quickly and easily.

This is especially important as local authorities continue to prioritise digital inclusion and user-friendly public services.

Heather Neimarlija, Idox Account Manager commented: โ€œThis project was a great example of true partnership working with the South Glos community. We understand how crucial it is for families to be able to find accurate and timely information, especially for those navigating SEND services. We’re proud to support the council in making their Directory more accessible and effective for the whole community.โ€

Idox continues to work closely with local authorities to help them meet their statutory obligations and improve access to local services. If your organisation is exploring how to update or redesign its Directories, the team would be happy to share insights and support from similar successful projects.
