Idox supports Lambeth go-live on HMLR digital Local Land Charges Register

Lambeth Council has become the latest local authority to successfully migrate to HM Land Registry’s digital Local Land Charges (LLC) Register, as part of an ongoing project to support the digital transformation of the property-buying process.

From 1 October 2019, citizens requiring LLC searches in the London Borough of Lambeth area will now be directed to the ‘search the local land charges page’ on GOV.UK which helps to speed up property transactions by providing instant online search results, revealing whether a property is subject to a charge.

Having collaborated with HM Land Registry since project inception, Idox is delighted to have supported Lambeth with its data migration to the national register, delivering, for the first time, a productised set of APIs that standardise the data transfer process for Idox’s market-leading Local Land Charges solution – Total Land Charges (TLC).

Phil Hutton, Head of Technology at Idox commented:

“Approximately half of all local authorities in England offering a local land change service use Idox’s Total Land Charges. The solution we have delivered provides a standardised way for these customers to provide the initial transfer of Local Land Charge data, and to automate the maintenance of data on the HM Land Registry’s LLC Register, without impacting on existing processes. The approach, which utilises our Digital Platform, simplifies our ability to roll the solution out whilst providing continuity and efficiencies for both councils, HMLR and homebuyers. We look forward to continuing our work with HM Land Registry.”

Karina Singh, Director of Transformation at HM Land Registry, said:

“Colleagues at Lambeth Council and HM Land Registry have worked closely together to migrate their complex and large dataset to our national digital LLC Register. The transfer of Lambeth’s service marks a significant milestone in the Government’s ambition to make homebuying faster, simpler and cheaper for everyone.”

Idox will continue to work with HM Land Registry and TLC customers across England to maintain the smooth data transitions required to coordinate the move of local authority LLC data to the national digital register.

The team was also delighted to attend HMLR’s Local Land Charges Annual Conference in Birmingham earlier this week (2 October 2019), joining conversations around the progress made on the national Local Land Charges Register, the next steps for the Local Land Charges service and how best to support the customers and key stakeholders through the migration process.
