Press release
Sunderland first to go live in England with IDOX Public Access
Published 27 July 2009
- Sunderland makes it easier to view planning applications online
- Long relationship with Sunderland and IDOX group helps deliver improved services
IDOX group (AIM:IDOX), the leading developer and supplier of software solutions and information services to local government, announced the first English IDOX Public Access solution to go 'live' in Sunderland City Council.
Sunderland asked IDOX to provide an increase in the level of customer engagement, as part of a radical change to the way that the council engages with planning stakeholders.
A key objective was to ensure that Sunderland's citizens were kept fully informed on all planning application matters in the city. IDOX Public Access enables this, by allowing access to planning information at any time, giving citizens and other stakeholders the opportunity to make comments and track the progress of any planning application online.
Cllr Bryan Charlton, Sunderland City Council's Portfolio Holder for Prosperous City said: "Sunderland is recognised for embracing new technology and this new facility continues to boost our reputation for delivering electronic services which benefit both the Council and the communities it serves."
The IDOX solution has already demonstrated a rapid increase in the number of local people enjoying the service, whilst citizens are now being proactively alerted of planning applications within their localities.
Sunderland is often seen as a leading light in terms of its smart use of new technology, and IDOX Public Access has further promoted the Council's reputation for delivering on-line planning services.
