East Dorset to Publish Planning Documents online

East Dorset District Council has chosen the IDOX Document Management System (EDRMS) to enable planning documents to be viewed online. This is the first time residents will be able to view planning applications including supporting documents and plans via the IDOX Public Access for Planning solution. Citizens will also be able to make comments and objections online.

The key benefit to residents and others having an interest in the planning process will be to increase the convenience of anyone needing to view planning applications and to reduce the need to travel to council offices to view plans. From the Council's perspective the amount of administration required to handle the publishing of planning information and the associated consultation process is expected to be more efficient.

Those registering for the system will also benefit from being notified automatically of status changes of planning applications they have expressed an interest in or of new planning application within any area in which they have expressed an interest.

East Dorset already makes extensive use of the IDOX Planning and Building Control solutions and the addition of the IDOX Document Management System will significantly improve their service delivery.
