Waltham Forest extends Open Objects partnership to better support young people leaving care

Waltham Forest Council is continuing its partnership with Idox’s Open Objects by extending its well-established Waltham Forest Directory website for families to include a dedicated channel for young people leaving care.

The new Local Offer for Care Leavers will be fully integrated into the existing directory website, and will signpost care leavers – those who have been looked after by the local authority for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14 – to information about the services and support available to them as they move towards adulthood and independent living.

Remaining consistent in branding, the Care Leavers’ Local Offer will further enhance the directory with information, guidance and services in relation to health and wellbeing; relationships; education and training; employment; accommodation and participation in society.

Recently published survey results by Socitm’s Better Connected programme have highlighted 19 Family Information Services (FIS) websites as ‘outstanding’, with ten of these platforms developed by Open Objects, including Waltham Forest.
